Both the ADX and the QX55 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti With 3 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Acura higher than Infiniti.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the ADX gets better mileage than the QX55:

MPG

ADX

FWD

1.5 turbo 4-cyl.

26 city/31 hwy

AWD

1.5 turbo 4-cyl.

25 city/30 hwy

QX55

AWD

2.0 turbo 4-cyl.

22 city/28 hwy

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the ADX’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The QX55 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Acura ADX uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The QX55 requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The ADX has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The QX55 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Tires and Wheels

The ADX AWD has a standard space-saver spare (not available on FWD) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the QX55; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

Chassis

The Acura ADX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 700 pounds less than the Infiniti QX55.

The front grille of the ADX uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX55 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The ADX has 2.3 inches more front legroom and 1.1 inches more rear headroom than the QX55.

Cargo Capacity

The ADX has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the QX55 with its rear seat folded (55.1 vs. 54.1 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the ADX easier. The ADX’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 27 inches, while the QX55’s liftover is 29.9 inches.

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Infiniti. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 4% lower rating, Infiniti is ranked 7th.

Ergonomics

Both the Acura ADX and Infiniti QX55 offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The ADX offers available power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the QX55’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

Model Availability

The ADX is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The QX55 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
